Equine Assisted Therapy, Workshops, Retreats

You may ask:  What is the benefit of using horses for wellness retreats and therapy sessions?

Well, those who are familiar with horses know and understand the power of horses and how they influence people in incredibly powerful ways.

We are often asked, "Why horses?  Why not other animals?"

Though they may be naturally intimidating to some, because of their size and strength, this creates a natural opportunity to overcome fear and develop confidence.  Working alongside a horse, in spite of those fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful insight when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life.

Equine Assisted Sessions allow for the unique experience of learning by doing in the company of horses.

People have the ability to find their own answers, and change and grow when they are challenged - Equine Assisted Therapy is a solution-oriented approach in which horses are used as tools for emotional and personal growth and learning.

In an era when immediate gratification and the "easy way" are the norm, horses require people to be engaged in physical and mental work to be successful, a valuable lesson in all aspects of life.

Participants learn about themselves and others by partaking in structured activities with horses and then processing and discussing feelings, behaviors and patterns that emerge from these exercises. This technique is often compared to a ropes courses used by mental health professionals, human development corporations and team-building workshops throughout the world. Equine Assisted Programs are not about horsemanship or riding. In fact, most participants have never had any horse experience. All work is conducted on the ground in a safe and non-threatening environment led by trained and experienced clinicians and horse professionals.
